Phenomenon 1: The overload bell rings, but there are still people entering the elevator

There is a phenomenon of using passenger elevators as freight elevators in some residential communities and commercial buildings. At a commercial building on Huangtang Road, a pile of goods is placed in front of the elevator. The staff blocked one of the boxes of goods on the elevator door and then moved them into the elevator. The elevator automatically closed the door several times, but the boxes were pushed back. When he moved all the goods into the elevator, the overweight bell rang. The staff member then walked out of the elevator and walked into it lightly, but the overweight bell did not ring again. The use of manned elevators as freight elevators for transporting building materials, construction waste, furniture, etc. can easily lead to overloading or the risk of garbage falling onto the track, resulting in elevator malfunctions. Overload is a major hidden danger in elevator operation. Generally speaking, every elevator with qualified quality is equipped with an overload warning switch, which will sound an alarm if it is overloaded. However, this does not necessarily mean that the safety is 100%. If the elevator overload warning switch is broken or the sensitivity is insufficient, or if there is a problem with the circuit board, once overloaded, citizens may not realize that unimaginable consequences may occur.

Phenomenon 2: Jumping and pressing buttons randomly in the elevator may cause hidden dangers

In addition to overloading elevators and using passenger elevators as freight elevators, some elevator accidents are also related to improper passenger operation, such as citizens, especially children, randomly pressing elevator buttons, and forcibly squeezing in when the elevator door is closed. At a commercial building on Xiapu Road, taking the elevator down from the 16th floor, the elevator was already crowded with people. When the elevator reached the 10th floor, two people went out, and something strange happened: when the elevator door was about to close, the overweight bell rang. A citizen walked out of the elevator and then tiptoed in, but the overweight bell did not ring anymore. The elevator arrived at the 8th floor and two people went out. When the elevator door was about to close, the same thing happened. A citizen experienced the situation and repeated what they had just done.

A citizen joked about this strange phenomenon, 'Perhaps this elevator is playing a prank.'. The elevator arrived at the 6th floor and a mother and son walked in. The child was very lively and jumped around as soon as they entered the elevator, causing the entire car to shake. The child mentioned the second floor and went out, then took the stairs down to the first floor. As he spoke, he went to press the elevator floor button, but he pressed all the floors on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.

Usually, many people like to intentionally stomp their feet and even jump after getting on the elevator. Some people, when their clothes or bags are caught by the door, do not press the door open button, but pull them hard. All of these may cause the elevator to suddenly malfunction.

Phenomenon 3: Rarely pay attention to elevator inspection dates. If there is a malfunction, I don't know what to do

In addition to human factors, the inability to keep up with the maintenance of some elevators also leads to frequent elevator malfunctions. Why can't maintenance keep up? Because some elevator users or management units are tempted by cheap prices and often sign contracts with low-priced maintenance units, which do not fully maintain elevators in accordance with national safety technical specifications. Some individual elevator users, driven by the desire for affordability, entrust elevator installation and maintenance services to unqualified units or individual private enterprises, often at a loss when the elevator malfunctions. The causes of elevator malfunctions involve many aspects. Maintenance units and property management departments should strictly maintain and manage elevators in accordance with relevant national regulations, and citizens should also use elevators in a civilized and standardized manner
